Lakeshore Nature Preserve Student Engagement Grants

The Lakeshore Nature Preserve is a 300-acre natural area and outdoor laboratory on the UW-Madison Campus. It is comprised of wetlands, woodlands, savanna, restored prairie, community gardens, and 4.3 miles of Lake Mendota shoreline. The Lakeshore Nature Preserve governance committee has established a small grant opportunity for undergraduate students and faculty or staff working with undergraduate students to facilitate the use of the Preserve as a resource for teaching and research. Funds can be used for the purchase of equipment, supplies, and student stipends related to a specific project in the Preserve. The maximum individual award is $1000. Groups of individuals may submit a proposal as a team. Every student, individual or team, must have at least one faculty or staff member who is expected to play an active role in overseeing the project.

The application deadline is March 1, 2021.

More information, including a list of previously funded projects, and the request for proposals can be found on the Lakeshore Nature Preserve website:
