Bernice D. Kuney Scholarship
The Bernice D. Kuney Scholarship was established in 1989 by Edith Martindale in honor of her mentor Bernice Kuney, who spent 40 years teaching English at UW–Extension and supporting adults returning to college. Martindale, a 1944 alumna, dedicated her career to advancing understanding of mental illness and disability.
This scholarship supports returning adult students with a significant gap in their education who are enrolled in undergraduate, graduate, or professional degree programs.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Demonstrated financial need
- Educational gap of at least 5 years
- Preference for part-time students
- Academic progress, achievement, and commitment
- U.S. citizen, permanent resident, asylee, or eligible non-citizen
