This scholarship may be used to support the development of your senior thesis collection as required by the Textiles & Fashion Design program within the UW-Madison Design Studies department

- Please provide an overview of your senior thesis project and what you are planning to make. Include a statement of why you want to do this particular work, along with a timeline to completion.
- What is the total estimated cost of developing your senior thesis project?
- Please list any additional funding sources that will be used to support your project (grants, scholarships, stipends, financial assistance from parents/guardians, etc.)
- Indicate the total amount of financial support you would like to request to aid in the development of your senior thesis project. Students may apply for up to $500, however, requests should not exceed the the total estimated amount needed to cover costs.
- What is your anticipated graduation date? (month & year; ie. May 2026)
- What are your career/professional goals post-graduation?
- How might developing this particular collection help to advance your career?
- Please feel free to share any additional information to support your application here, including a statement of financial need (if applicable).
- Do you agree to develop an e-portfolio, web site or other digital display of your collection that may be shared with prospective or current students, employers, alumni and other key stakeholders? You will be asked to submit a link to the Advising & Career Center within 2 weeks of graduation.
- Do you agree to showcase your collection via a formal presentation, paper, pop up exhibit, or off-campus fashion/trunk/gallery show and ensure School of Human Ecology faculty/staff remain informed of your plans? (Alternate ideas possible with consultation of Advising & Career Team staff).
- Do you grant SoHE permission to share links to your e-portfolio, web site or other digital display of your senior thesis collection as part of our promotions for the Scholarship program or the School?
- Please submit a PDF file with 6-8 images demonstrating a visual representation of your proposed senior thesis collection, including sketches/illustrations, mood boards and statements, finished pieces of previous work, experiments/samples, etc.
- Please submit an itemized budget of estimated expenses to develop your collection, including all costs associated with fabric, finishes, etc. to complete your project. Your budget should include both income (if applicable) and expenses related to the project.
