iSchool Graduate Awards Application

The Information School offers a number of awards to graduate students in both the MA-LIS and MS programs. These awards offer financial support for outstanding iSchool graduate students as well as a feather in your cap as you embark on future job searches. You will want to consult the iSchool awards page for eligibility requirements and specific award descriptions.

  3. Outstanding MS iSchool Graduate Student Award

    The Outstanding MS Graduate Student Award recognizes an individual who not only has demonstrated outstanding scholastic achievement, but also significant contributions to the Information professions through hands-on experience, leadership and community involvement.For more information, please see the iSchool Graduate Student Awards website.
    • Submit a personal statement demonstrating commitment to the program and active participation and leadership within student and/or professional organizations.
  4. Outstanding MA Graduate Student Award

    The Outstanding MA Graduate Student Award recognizes an individual who not only has demonstrated outstanding scholastic achievement, but also significant contributions to the Information professions through hands-on experience, leadership and/or community involvement.     • Submit a personal statement demonstrating commitment to the program and significant contributions to the Information professions through hands-on experience, leadership and/or community involvement.
  5. James Krikelas Award For Innovative Use Of Information Technology

    This award is to recognize the work of an iSchool student who has presented the innovative use of information technology through an iSchool course assignment or extra-curricular activity. Complete all questions below to be considered. For more information, please see the iSchool Graduate Student Awards website.
    • 1) Title of project
    • 2) Provide a brief overview of the project and why it demonstrates an innovative use of information technology
    • 3) Provide a PDF version of the project or a link to the project as supporting evidence
    • 4) Provide group members full names if submitting a group project
  6. Valmai Fenster Award for Outstanding Promise for Exceptional Scholarly Contribution to the Profession

    This award is intended to recognize exceptional scholarship of an iSchool student as evidenced in a scholarly paper. To be considered upload a PDF of a single (i.e. not a group paper) scholarly paper written in any semester. Your name should appear only on the cover page of the paper, not on every page.   7. Dianne McAfee Hopkins Diversity Activities Award

    This award is intended to recognize a student whose iSchool and extra-curricular activities support the mission of promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion within the profession and a commitment to the mission of the diversity committee within their community. To be considered submit either a letter of recommendation OR a personal statement to be considered this award. It should document the reasons for the nomination, including the candidate’s commitment to the mission of the diversity committee within their community.   8. Larry Jacobsen Innovations In Library Science Award

    The intent of the award is to support a second year iSchool MA student who (1) needs financial assistance in completing their second year, (2) has a focus on academic and/or special libraries, and (3) demonstrates skills as a potential difference maker in librarianship.For more information, please see the iSchool Graduate Student Awards website.

    • Personal statement describing your academic excellence, demonstration of leadership, and financial need.
