Brody Epstein Agricultural Study Abroad Scholarship
Based in Palo Alto, California, Sarah Brody Epstein ’78 works in the test kitchen of Sunset magazine as their Senior Recipe Tester. She received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin in Agronomy and her master’s degree in social work from Boston University in 1982. Before moving to California, Epstein was a Senior Social Worker at The Cambridge Hospital in Massachusetts, where her work crossed through almost every patient care department. She served on the hospital’s Multidisciplinary Geriatric Evaluation Team and was the hospital representative on a community wide, multi-agency geriatric protective service task force. She held a teaching appointment as Lecturer on Psychiatry at Harvard University’s Medical School, Department of Psychiatry. She held an NIMH Fellowship in Geriatric Psychiatry in the early 1980s. Sarah currently serves as an officer of the Board of Directors of the Alzheimer’s Association, Northern California and Northern Nevada Chapter and is the chapter’s delegate to the National Delegate Assembly.
Epstein established the Brody Epstein Agricultural Study Abroad Fund, which is designed to assist UW students who wish to participate in a meaningful study abroad opportunity.
Eligibility Criteria
Awarded to undergraduate students in CALS who are studying abroad or participating in international internships. First preference given to students in plant sciences (Agronomy, Horticulture, Plant Pathology, Biology – Plant Option); second preference given to students in global health.
