John Clarence De Cleene Award
The John Clarence De Cleene Scholarship supports one or more graduate or undergraduate students from an underrepresented group or population in the Department of Gender and Women’s Studies. Preference will be given to students with interests in Political Science, and/or government programs with the potential to enhance gender diversity.

Eligibility:
Graduate students from an underrepresented group or population who:
are conducting research in a field related to sexual diversity,
are conducting research in political science or government programs that have the potential to enhance gender diversity
have a demonstrated interest in a career in federal or state government
Undergraduate students (sophomore, junior, or senior) from an underrepresented group or population who:
are majoring in LGBTQ Studies
are majoring in political science or government programs that have the potential to enhance gender diversity
have a demonstrated interest in a career in federal or state government
Application: Please submit application materials via Wisconsin Scholarship Hub (WiSH).
The application should include the following (please combine them into a single PDF, if possible)
An essay (up to 600 words) on your research in LGBTQ+ studies, gender, and/or sexual diversity.
A resume
Complete transcripts from UW-Madison (unofficial transcripts accepted)
Award: The one-year award will provide a stipend of $500, which will be awarded at the end of the Spring semester to be used during the following academic year. Recipient will be announced by April 15, 2024.
