George A. and George R. Affeldt Memorial Scholarship
The George A. and George R. Affeldt Memorial Scholarship was created by family and friends to honor the Affeldt family legacy at the University of Wisconsin Law School and in the Wisconsin legal community.
Donor Information
After graduating from the University of Wisconsin Law School in 1909, George A. Affeldt started his own firm, Affeldt Law Offices, S.C. A revered attorney, Mr. Affeldt argued over 40 cases in the Wisconsin Supreme Court and served as a court commissioner. His son, George R. Affeldt, was a 1948 graduate of the University of Wisconsin Law School, and a member of the 1941 National Championship UW Men’s Basketball team. George R. Affeldt served as the President of the Wisconsin Alumni Association, a board member of the UW Foundation, and a member of the UW Athletic Board. He was honored as a Distinguished Alumnus of the University in 1980, the highest honor bestowed by the Wisconsin Alumni Association. Mr. David A. Affeldt, grandson of George A. Affeldt and son of George R. Affeldt, continues the Affeldt family legacy as a 1979 graduate of the Law School. He currently runs the family firm, Affeldt Law Offices. The Affeldt Memorial Scholarship began upon the death of George A. Affeldt in 1952, with memorial donations from family and friends. It has continued to grow over the years, with memorial donations in honor of George R. Affeldt.
