Tommy G. Thompson Leadership Scholarship

The Tommy G. Thompson Center on Public Leadership offers one scholarship award of up to $3,000 to one student per academic year. Scholarships are intended for undergraduates who have shown public leadership in their lives in a way that reflects the general legacy of Governor Tommy G. Thompson. Governor Thompson was a broad thinker who offered common sense solutions to tackle big problems through teamwork and an unending zeal to make our state a better place. We seek highly accomplished applicants who reflect Tommy’s spirit, have demonstrated leadership during their time in college, and will continue to lead in the future.

Applications are evaluated by a UW-Madison panel with three semi-finalists forwarded to the Thompson Center Review Board for final selection of awardees. To learn more information about the scholarship, please visit the Tommy G. Thompson Center on Public Leadership’s website.

Scholarships are intended for undergraduates who have shown public leadership in their lives in a way that reflects the general legacy of Governor Tommy G. Thompson. Governor Thompson was a broad thinker who offered common sense solutions to tackle big problems through teamwork and an unending zeal to make our state a better place. We seek high quality applicants who reflect Tommy’s spirit, have demonstrated leadership during their time in college, and will continue to lead in the future. Prompt responses should demonstrate some understanding of former Secretary and Governor Thompson's interests and accomplishments.
  3. (Thomp) I grant permission to share the contents of my application, transcript, and relevant information with the UW-Madison and UW System Tommy Thompson Review Panels.

Describe your aspirations; and explain the ways in which your leadership reflects Governor Thompson's spirit and legacy of bringing people together to develop common solutions.
