George Hamel Undergraduate Scholarship Fund
The George Hamel Undergraduate Scholarship Fund was established by George F. Hamel, Jr., and his wife Pam, to honor his father’s 85th birthday.
FAFSA required prior to awarding decisions. Preference in selection is given to an upper-level, out-of-state student on the strategic communications track, preferably public relations. Further, the donor prefers that the award be based upon academic merit and financial need.

Donor Information
George Hamel Sr., a 1966 alumnus of the School of Journalism and Mass Communication, took a leave of absence from the U.S. Army and, at the age of 44, earned a Master’s degree in public relations. After graduation, Hamel was assigned to the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Public Affairs at the Pentagon, where he spent the duration of his military career.
