Computer Sciences Undergraduate Scholarship Application

The Department of Computer Sciences is pleased to be able to offer four departmental scholarships that may be awarded to undergraduate students who are declared and continuing in the Computer Sciences program. The Computer Sciences Undergraduate Scholarship Application allows for students to be considered for these scholarships under one application. Applicants using this scholarship application may be considered for the following:

David Dewitt Undergraduate Scholarship
The Department of Computer Sciences plans to award one or more David Dewitt Scholarship to recognize academic excellence among undergraduate Computer Sciences Majors. Each award is worth $8000, and students must be enrolled in the UW undergraduate CS program next year (i.e., not graduating or transferring in the current semester). The primary criterion for this award is academic excellence, and letters of recommendation are required. Past experience tells us that successful applicants have demonstrated activities outside the classroom, such as possible research experience and/or possible interactions with industry, and/or possible participation in intra-university academic competitions.

Hina and Faisal Mushtaq Scholarship
The CS Department is pleased to offer the Hina and Faisal Mushtaq Scholarship (up to $1000) to support undergraduate CS majors who demonstrate an interest in healthcare. Continuing students who are declared majors in Computer Sciences and will be enrolled for the 2024-2025 academic year are eligible to apply for this opportunity.

Paul D. Salmon Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded (up to $1000) to undergraduate Computer Science majors during the Spring term. The fund was established to support majors and students from under-served populations defined by the National Science Foundation. Students must be continuing in the UW-Madison undergraduates in the CS program next year (not graduating or transferring in this current semester). The definition from the National Science Foundation for underrepresented students in computer science include women, persons with disabilities, Black and African American, Hispanic, American Indian, Alaska Native, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander.

Wai Ying Yick and Dr. Chiu Wai Yuen Endowment
This scholarship (up to $1000) is awarded to undergraduate Computer Sciences majors with financial need.
