L&S Honors Program Study Abroad Award
Description: The L&S Honors Program encourages all Honors students to consider studying abroad and to take advantage of enriching learning opportunities in a new place and culture. The L&S Honors Program hopes to make this possible for as many Badgers as possible with Kurz and Chuck Snowden Honors Directors’ Study Abroad Awards.
The Award: These grants award $1250 to eligible L&S Honors Program students participating in a UW-Madison-approved academic study abroad program.
Eligibility Criteria:
- You are currently declared with Honors in the Liberal Arts (HLA), Honors in the Major (HM), or both [i.e. Comprehensive Honors (CH)]
- You have applied to participate in a Fall 2024, Summer 2024, or 2024 Academic Year (Fall and Spring) UW-Madison academic study abroad program.
Selection Criteria (in no particular order):
- Strength of written response(s)
- Financial need*
- Cumulative GPA
- Previous Honors course experience
Characteristics of the selected study abroad program including:
- Language immersion (as determined by UW International Academic Programs)
- Program duration
- Honors Program affiliation (preference may be given to students selecting to study at either of the two Honors-sponsored study abroad programs.
**We recommend completion of the most recent version of the FAFSA for financial need consideration.
Conditions of the award: Completion of the study abroad program is a requirement of the grant. Recipients may also be asked to complete experience-related reflections and submit materials to be shared with prospective Honors students. Recipients must complete a thank you letter. Students are only eligible to receive this award one time during their undergraduate career.
