Excellence in Graduate Student Teaching Award

Despite the critical role that graduate student teaching plays in the university ecosystem, graduate students’ hard work in this area is often underappreciated. To recognize graduate students who work to be excellent and equitable educators, the School of Human Ecology offers one annual award of $500.

Eligibility

Human Ecology MS, MFA, or PhD graduate student in good academic standing and making satisfactory progress.

Nomination Process

Any graduate student may nominate any graduate student for this award, including themselves. To nominate an individual, a one-page nomination letter is required and must include the following information:

  • A description of the exemplary nature of the teaching activities (i.e. how the work sets the particular student apart)
  • One or more artifacts from their teaching to support your statement (can include handouts, evidence of above-and-beyond support to students, detailed assignment feedback, etc)
  • The names and contact information of two individuals (including one faculty member) who can speak to the exemplary teaching of the nominee
