Walter A. Wittich Scholarship (CI-GD)

Prof. Wittich received his B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin–Madison in 1944 and served as principal at Marquette Elementary School before becoming Curriculum Director for the Madison Public Schools. He joined the faculty at the University of Wisconsin in 1944 and became the director of the Bureau of Audio Visual Instruction. While a faculty member of the School of Education, he became an innovator of using media to enhance classroom teaching, and with his exhaustive research he and his co-author published Audio Visual Instruction, Their Nature and Use. He was elected to the Association of Educational Technology twice and at his 100th birthday received a plaque from that association proclaiming him a leading Centenarian of the field for his introduction and creative innovative use of media and technology in the classrooms of the nation.

Eligibility Criteria
Students in Curriculum and Instruction research master’s program who graduated from the UW System with a Bachelor of Science degree, a 3.0 GPA, and indicate evidence of financial need.
