Martin A. Abrahamsen Undergraduate Scholarship
Mary Shimabukuro created the Martin Abrahamsen Scholarship in honor of her late father. Martin received his MA in 1933 and a Ph.D. in 1940, both in Agricultural Economics from UW-Madison. Dr. Abrahamsen was a Professor of Agricultural Economics at the University of West Virginia and North Carolina State University, where he taught and did research in Agricultural Cooperation and Marketings. He joined the staff of Farmer Cooperative Service at USDA, where he served as Director of the Purchasing Division and subsequently as Deputy Administrator for the agency. Dr. Abrahamsen received the Ellerton Award of the Cooperative Foundationand the Distinguished Alumnus Award from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. Mary Shimabukuro is an alumna of UW-Madison and received her BS in1959 in Letters & Science in Medical Microbiology & Immunology.
Eligibility Criteria
Awarded to outstanding Seniors demonstrating strong academics and leadership in the Department of Agricultural and Applied Economics. The Department of AAE nominates students for this award.
