Milwaukee Foundation Port Washington Garden Club Scholarship
This scholarship was established in 2012 by the Port Washington Garden Club. The Port Washington Garden Club was established in December 1932 to promote gardening and beautify the City of Port Washington. In the early the years, the club sponsored flower shows, and organized gardening classes and seminars. Its holiday decorating contest was popular for decades. Club members also landscaped the Judge Eghart House Victorian Museum in Port Washington, installed plantings at the Port Washington Senior Center, and purchased and planted apple trees at the Port Washington Light Station museum. More recently, the club has planted the gardens at the waterfront Rotary Park, landscaped at the city’s Niederkorn Library, established a fund to purchase trees for Port Washington parks and worked with the local chapter of Habitat for Humanity.
