Anna Apinis Memorial Great People Scholarship

Dr. John Janis Apinis (BS ’64) established two Great People Scholarships in memory of his parents, Anna and Janis Apinis (BS ’54). Anna and Janis both earned masters degrees in pharmacy in their native Latvia before immigrating to the U.S. after WWII. Unfortunately, their foreign-earned degrees were not accepted in the states. Janis earned a second pharmacy degree at UW–Madison. After graduating, he became a dedicated, lifelong pharmacist, and Anna worked as a medical technician at UW Hospital.
