Elizabeth Sewell Scholarship in Art Metals

The Elizabeth Sewell Scholarship in Art Metals was established in 2001 by the late William H. Sewell, UW Professor Emeritus of Sociology and former University Chancellor. The award honors his wife, Elizabeth Sewell, who began her career as an artist in 1962 when she took jewelry-making classes at the Madison Area Technical College. Several years later she enrolled in the art metals program at the University. The jewelry and small sculptures she created won numerous awards.
