The Ted Perry "A Little Something for the Effort" Stipend

The donor, Edward “Ted” Perry, created this scholarship to support students in the School of Journalism and Mass Communication whose personal and family resources do not cover the costs of attending the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

FAFSA required prior to awarding decisions. Preference in selection will be given to students pursuing the news/editorial journalism track who have financial need.

About the process: Students do not apply for individual scholarships with the School of Journalism and Mass Communication. Students fill out one application and the scholarship committee matches students to awards. Scholarships are awarded based on financial need, academics, study area and involvement. Donor Information
Ted Perry (‘86) was inspired to start this fund based on the generosity and support of his brother, Christopher, during Ted’s time at UW-Madison. In addition to working two jobs, an internship and pursuing his studies, family support provided to Ted during his time on campus was invaluable as he worked toward graduation and his career path. When Ted told his brother he would pay him back, the response was always, “don’t worry about it.”
An accomplished journalist, Mr. Perry started his interest in the field of journalism at an early age. When his family moved to Baraboo, Wisconsin, he started the high school paper. At the UW-Madison, he furthered his interest by majoring in journalism and writing for the Badger Herald. Since 1993, Mr Perry has been in television news in the Milwaukee area.
