Martin (Kunu) H. Lowe Scholarship

Martin (Kunu) H. Lowe was born in 1975 in Madison to Truman and Nancy Lowe. His Ho-Chunk name means first born son. He attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison where he focuses on genetics. He passed away in 2005 in a workplace accident.
His father, Truman Lowe, was raised with Ho-Chunk traditions and learned basketry, ribbon work, and beading. He pursued a MFA in Art from UW-Madison in 1973 and taught art until 2010. He received the Distinguished Alumni Award and received Emeritus status when he retired. He was an artist whose work was displayed in several nationally recognized art museums and was a curator for the Smithsonian.

Eligibility Criteria
Awarded to continuing students (sophomore, junior, senior) in CALS studying basic biological sciences with preference given to students studying genetics. Student should be in good academic standing. Preference given to Native American students.
