Claudia Melrose Scholarship

Claudia Melrose has been a professor in the University of Wisconsin–Madison Dance Program since 1985, and has an international reputation as a modern dance performer/choreographer. She has been the recipient of more than 40 grants and awards, and has choreographed more than 60 dances. A student of African-based dance forms, she has studied in Ghana under a Fulbright Fellowship, in Cuba with a Vilas Fellowship and has enriched dance programs on the Madison campus and beyond with an infusion of African-influenced programs. As a faculty member, she has served as an inspiration to many years of Dance students mentoring their individual creativity and talents.
