Virginia Hill Thayer University League Endowed Scholarship
The University League, Inc., created this scholarship on behalf of Virginia Hill Thayer.
FAFSA required prior to awarding decisions. Preference in selection will be given to female-identifying journalism seniors with outstanding academic and professional credentials who have provided service to the school or the university.
About the process: Students do not apply for individual scholarships with the School of Journalism and Mass Communication. Students fill out one application and the scholarship committee matches students to awards. Scholarships are awarded based on financial need, academics, study area and involvement. Donor Information
Virginia Hill Thayer was a long-time member and past Junior League President. She took an active part in the community, student, and academic affairs. In addition to being alumnae advisor of a sorority, she served as editor and typist for numerous books and articles written by her husband, Frank Thayer who was a professor in the School of Journalism. The League, founded in 1901, is an organization of faculty women and academic staff, and wives of faculty and academic staff, who have provided support for the Leagues scholarship program since 1940.
