Kit Award for Stage Managers Fund (Theatre & Drama)

The Kit Award for Stage Managers Fund supports undergraduate students in the School of Education who are majoring in Theatre and Drama and have secured an unpaid or low-paid internship in stage management (or a related internship). Funds can be used to cover hourly wages or to pay for internship-related expenses such as transportation, relocation, or housing. Students can be awarded up to $5,000.00 – amount will vary depending on the specifics of the internship.

You qualify if:

  • You’re an undergraduate Theatre & Drama major planning on returning to UW-Madison in Theatre & Drama for the fall 2023 semester.
  • You’ve secured an internship opportunity prior to applying for funding. The internship must be connected to your academic program and be a stage management (or related) experience.
  • Your internship includes clear expectations with supervision and feedback.

How to Apply:

  • Log in to WiSH and complete the General Application and the Supplemental Questions for the Kit Award for Stage Managers Fund scholarship.
  • Upload information requested for the internship, e.g., internship description, offer/acceptance letter.

Students who accept a scholarship will be required to complete a post-internship survey which includes a summary paragraph about their experience. Additional post-internship requests will include a photo and/or attendance at an event to engage with scholarship donors.
