Conference Travel Scholarship

The School of Human Ecology Graduate Program is offering travel awards to graduate students who are invited to present at professional conferences/exhibits. For the 2021-2022 year, we are also opening this category up to support professional development trainings (e.g., statistical workshops or trainings on research/scholarship/creative work methods). The purpose of the support is to encourage participation in professional development, scholarly research, and/or creative endeavor and to help cover expenses not covered by other sources. Students may apply for a maximum award of $650 for travel ($750 for international travel) to support conference or exhibition participation in a single academic year—September 1 to August 31. They may apply for a maximum of $500 to support professional development in a single academic year.

Required Applications Materials
-Conference name, date, and location OR professional development training title, date and location
-Evidence that student has been invited to present/exhibit if related to applying for conference/exhibition expenses
-Title of conference/exhibition presentation and all authors if applying for conference/exhibition expenses
-If the student is a co-author, a description of the student’s contribution and role in the conference/exhibition presentation
-If applying for professional development training, description (e.g., max 1 page) of why the professional training is needed
-Total cost estimates: registration, travel, lodging, meals, and other expenses
-Funding support requested from other sources (e.g., Conference sponsor or Graduate School)
-Total amount requested

Additional Instructions
Support other sources must be described. The SoHE Graduate Program views support from other sources as confirmation of the quality of the student’s research and of its presentation to the broader academic community
