Arthur B. Sacks Award for Graduate Excellence in Environmental Studies and Sustainability
This scholarship award is intended to support students who are exploring the relation of environmental studies to the concept and practice of sustainability.
Student applicants must be enrolled full-time in and actively pursuing one of the following Nelson Institute programs: 1) MS in Environment and Resources, 2) MS in Water Resources Management, 3) PhD in Environment and Resources.
Student applicants must be in good academic standing, with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Student applicants who are at least one full academic year away from graduation will be given special preference for this scholarship award.
This scholarship award is provided via private philanthropy from Emeritus Professor Arthur Sacks and Ms. Normandy Roden. Arthur is Director Emeritus of the Nelson Institute for Environmental Studies; he was the second person to hold this role, succeeding founding Director Reid Bryson.
One $500 scholarship is available to be awarded during the Spring 2023 scholarship competition.
Applicants will be notified of their selection in April 2023 and will be honored at the Nelson Institute’s Spring Commencement Celebration on Thursday, May 4, 2023.
