Jean A. Kautz Scholarship

Jean A. Kautz, was born in Lockport, NY. She accepted a scholarship to the University of Wisconsin for her undergraduate degree in Physical Education. She then attended Mills College in Oakland, CA for her Master’s Degree. Jean taught for 38 years, beginning her teaching career at the Buffalo Seminary and ending her career in San Francisco: A.P. Giannini Middle School (1954-1969), and Lowell High School (1969-1983), where she was also the Girls’ Basketball Coach for eight years. After retiring in 1983, Jean spent ten years in Lockport looking after her mother before moving back to her home in Tiburon, CA. In 2003, Jean moved to Spring Lake Village. She passed away in 2009.
