Hagedorn Plant Pathology Scholarship

Donald J. Hagedorn was born in Moscow, Idaho in 1919, and attended the University of Idaho to earn his undergraduate degree. He moved to Madison, and received his MS and his PhD at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1943 and 1948 respectively in the field of plant pathology. Dr. Hagedorn served as a professor of plant pathology from 1948 until he retired in 1987, all at UW-Madison and became internationally known in his field. He was a popular teacher and advisor, led research in the development of disease resistant peas and beans, published over 320 scientific papers, and received numerous awards and accolades. This scholarship honors Dr. Hagedorn and his lifes work.

Eligibility Criteria
Awarded to a sophomore, junior or senior student in CALS in the department of Plant Pathology. Preference is given to students who are interested in diseases of processing vegetables or vegetable pathology.
