History Graduate Student Summer Funding Application

This application is for graduate students in the Department of History to apply for a $2,000 stipend in summer 2021. To be eligible for this summer funding through the Department, graduate students must currently be in their 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year and plan on enrolling in the fall 2021 semester. They must also demonstrate Satisfactory Progress towards their degree. The definition of Satisfactory Progress is measured in several ways, enumerated below. Students must meet all of these conditions:

  • Registration and Credits: Pre-dissertators must be registered for a minimum of 9 credits each semester if on fellowship or 6 credits if employed as a TA or PA. Dissertators must be enrolled for 3 credits.
  • Grades and Grade Point Average: Students in their first two years of study must have a GPA of 3.00 or better. After the fourth semester, students must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.25.
  • Incompletes: At no time may a graduate student have more than 6 credits of “Incomplete” on their record.
  • Time Limits: Students must complete the M.A. degree by the end of the fourth semester or have an approved extension. Post-MA students must meet the time limits for taking prelims according to the area of study. Please consult the Graduate Handbook Prelims sections for further detail.

Recipients of this award must complete the post-acceptance questionnaire and submit a thank you letter before funds will be disbursed. Awarding of the scholarship is subject to review.
