Mario D. White QLaw Scholarship

The Mario D. White QLaw Scholarship recognizes a law student’s contribution to QLaw (Wisconsin’s LGBTQIA+ law student organization), as well as to the greater LGBTQIA+ community.
Judge White is a 2008 graduate of the University of Wisconsin Law School, served as a Dane County Circuit Commissioner beginning in 2018, and was appointed to serve as a Dane County Circuit Court Judge in 2020. Prior to becoming a court commissioner, Judge White was an Assistant State Public Defender. As a public defender, he was recognized for his trial skills when the Wisconsin Law Journal named him a 2017 Leader in the Law. Judge White has been on the faculty of the National Criminal Defense College in Bristol, Rhode Island and teaches at the Wisconsin Public Defender Trial Skills Academy. After graduating from the University of Wisconsin Law School in 2008, Judge White became an adjunct professor coaching mock trial and teaching trial skills to second and third year law students.

This scholarship is made possible by the efforts of QLaw, who has donated in recognition of Judge White’s commitment to the LGBTQIA+ community within the legal profession. Judge White was the Keynote Speaker at the 2020 QLaw GAYla.
