Lillian H., Robert T. and Robert W. Bennie Scholarship

The Lillian H., Robert T., and Robert W. Bennie scholarship provides a one-time award (amount subject to variation) to a high achieving incoming freshman with financial need pursuing a degree from the College of Letters & Science. The FAFSA is not required for this award.

The majority of scholarship opportunities for incoming freshman in the College of Letters & Science will be assessed per the admission application and financial aid data from the FAFSA. There is not a separate scholarship application to complete for most scholarships. Most awards prioritize excellent students with financial need. You are encouraged (not required) to complete the FAFSA to determine eligibility for institutional and federal financial aid by the December 1 priority date. Admission application essays may be reviewed as a part of the scholarship selection process. Scholarship opportunities are very limited for non-Wisconsin residents and international students are not eligible for incoming freshman scholarships. The UW-Madison admissions decision process is independent of the College of Letters & Science scholarship awarding process.

Students awarded an incoming freshman scholarship will receive an award offer email to their email account.

Robert W. Bennie established this scholarship to provide financial assistance to undergraduate students in the College of Letters & Science. Mr. Bennie graduated with a degree in Political Science from UW-Madison in 1949.

Student financial aid packages may be impacted by scholarship awards. It is recommended that students contact the financial aid office to learn about impact on current aid packages.
