Frank and Shirley Groves Scholarship Fund
The Frank and Shirley Groves scholarship provides a one-time award (amount subject to variation) to a high achieving incoming freshman from Lodi High School pursuing a degree from the College of Letters & Science.
The majority of scholarship opportunities for incoming freshman in the College of Letters & Science will be assessed per the admission application and financial aid data from the FAFSA. There is not a separate scholarship application to complete for most scholarships. Most awards prioritize excellent students with financial need. You are encouraged to complete the FAFSA to determine eligibility for institutional and federal financial aid by the December 1 priority date. Admission application essays may be reviewed as a part of the scholarship selection process. Scholarship opportunities are very limited for non-Wisconsin residents and international students are not eligible for incoming freshman scholarships. The UW-Madison admissions decision process is independent of the College of Letters & Science scholarship awarding process.
Frank Groves received his BS, MS, and PhD from UW-Madison’s College of Agricultural and Life Sciences; Shirley, his late wife, received her MS in Education, and their daughter Ann Groves Lloyd was named Associate Dean of Student Academic Affairs in the College of Letters & Science in 2006. The Frank and Shirley Groves Scholarship was established by Frank and Ann in memorial to Shirley.
Students awarded an incoming freshman scholarship will receive an award offer email to their wisc.edu email account.
Student financial aid packages may be impacted by scholarship awards. It is recommended that students contact the financial aid office to learn about impact on current aid packages.
