  5. Upload your research proposal (no more than 5 double-spaced pages). Do not become too technical. Remember that those reviewing the applications may be outside your academic field and therefore unfamiliar with specialized terminology of your discipline. Your research proposal should have the following elements (structure and formatting should follow your discipline):

    • Project title
    • Previous experience, background, literature review (originality and significance)
    • Statement of research questions(s) and hypotheses (goal, aim, purpose, etc.)
    • Procedures (methodology, experimental design, etc.)
    • Timeline for completion
    • Conclusion/future direction
    • References
    • Budget for up to $1,000 of supplies and expenses awared to research mentor’s department (include line items that add up to no more than $1,000)
