Helgren Family Wisconsin Rural Youth Scholarship

Fred J. Helgren was a lifetime supporter of the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He spent the majority of his college career at the University of Wisconsin Madison in the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences until he was called to the Navy during World War I. Returning from the war, Fred graduated with a degree in agriculture in 1921 and soon after a masters degree in dairy science. He then joined Abbott Laboratories, first as a nutritional chemist, then as a pharmaceutical chemist. This scholarship is in memory of Fred and his work in the agriculture and life sciences.
