The Wallace Meyer Memorial Scholarship Fund honors Wallace Meyer, a 1916 alumnus of the School of Journalism and Mass Communication.

Only School of Journalism and Mass Communication majors are eligible to apply for this scholarship. The application to apply for this and all other School of Journalism and Mass Communication scholarships is open the first two weeks of every December. Please visit our website for additional information on how to apply. The Fund supports undergraduate students on the strategic communications track, specifically in advertising.
After graduation from the School of Journalism and Mass Communication, Wallace “Wally” Meyer began his career as a reporter, then switched to advertising. He served as an advertising copy writer for such corporations as International Cellucotton Products, Canadian Pacific Railway, Northern Pacific Railway, and American Chain & Cable Company. He worked his way up through the ranks of corporate advertising at the J. Walter Thompson agency and later became Chairman of the Board of Reincke, Meyer and Finn. Wally was actively involved in the University of Wisconsin Foundation and a loyal alumnus who played a major role in obtaining funds for the Wisconsin Center, now named the Pyle Center.
