Edna F. & Walter E. Schmidt New Freshman Academic Merit Award

Betty was born on Dec. 6, 1917, in Madison, Wisconsin. She was the beloved daughter of Edna Elizabeth Frautschi and Walter Emil Schmidt. She was a graduate of the University of Wisconsin, School of Nursing and did graduate work at the University of Chicago. Betty and her husband Bob had four children and their love for the community was unmatched. Betty was known to volunteer at hospitals until she was in her late 80¿s. This scholarship is given in Betty and her parents honor.

Eligibility Criteria
Awarded to CALS incoming freshmen in the Dairy Science Department. Minimum GPA 3.5.
