In his youth, Aaron Mace carried papers for the Northwestern and looked upon the reporters and editors as God-like figures. After attending UW-Madison and serving in the Army, Mace returned to Oshkosh and joined the Northwestern in 1919. He held all the top editorial posts in the course of his 42-year tenure in the editorial department.
