Engineering Freshman Awards

The Engineering Freshman Award is a one or two year scholarship awarded to incoming freshman engineering students, in amounts ranging from $1,000 – $3,000. Students who completed an application for admission to UW-Madison and selected a College of Engineering major as their first choice are eligible for consideration.

HOW TO BE CONSIDERED:

1) Engineering Freshman Awards are limited to U.S. citizens and permanent residents.

2) Complete an application for admission to UW-Madison and select a College of Engineering major as your first choice. Selection is based on students’ UW admissions application materials. Evaluation criteria include academic merit, extracurricular activities, essay responses, and letters of recommendation. No additional application is required in order to be considered for an Engineering Freshman award.

Optional but Encouraged
A FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) form is required for need-based scholarships. We strongly encourage applicants to submit their FAFSA no later than the UW-Madison priority deadline of December 1, 2021. Submitting the FAFSA by December 1 ensures consideration for all types of financial aid. Please note, however, that Early Action and Regular Decision applicants who submit a FAFSA after the priority deadline can still be considered for an Engineering Freshman Award Scholarship. For information and help on completing a FAFSA and submitting to UW, see https://financialaid.wisc.edu/applying/. Students without FAFSAs will be considered for non-need based scholarships only.
