Morris K. Udall Scholarship--Environmental Studies

Established by congress in 1992, the Udall scholarships honor the legacy Congressman Morris K. Udall, supporting students who have demonstrated outstanding potential and a commitment to pursuing careers related to the environment.


Eligibility Criteria
National scholarship for undergraduates planning a career related to the environment.
Apply as a sophomore or junior (one or two years of undergraduate study remaining after the application year). Must be US citizen/permanent resident with a GPA of at least 3.0 (ideally higher).


How to Apply
Must be nominated by UW-Madison to compete nationally. To be considered for nomination, submit all application materials to the UAA Office by the campus deadline.


Selection Criteria
Selection criteria: commitment to a career in environmental policy; courses, service/leadership activities related to career interests; writing and analytical skills.


Award Information
The scholarship provides up to $5,000 to fund undergraduate study, including tuition, required books and living expenses. Approximately 50 scholarships and 50 honorable mentions ($350) are awarded annually. Junior level recipients may be re-nominated and receive a maximum of two years of support.
