Wallace Meyer Memorial Scholarship Fund

The Wallace Meyer Memorial Scholarship Fund honors Wallace Meyer, a 1916 alumnus of the School of Journalism and Mass Communication.

FAFSA required prior to awarding decisions. Preference in selection will be given to journalism students on the strategic communications track who have a specific interest in advertising.

About the process: Students do not apply for individual scholarships with the School of Journalism and Mass Communication. Students fill out one application and the scholarship committee matches students to awards. Scholarships are awarded based on financial need, academics, study area and involvement. After graduation from the School of Journalism and Mass Communication, Wallace “Wally” Meyer began his career as a reporter, then switched to advertising. He served as an advertising copy writer for such corporations as International Cellucotton Products, Canadian Pacific Railway, Northern Pacific Railway, and American Chain & Cable Company. He worked his way up through the ranks of corporate advertising at the J. Walter Thompson agency and later became Chairman of the Board of Reincke, Meyer and Finn. Wally was actively involved in the University of Wisconsin Foundation and a loyal alumnus who played a major role in obtaining funds for the Wisconsin Center, now named the Pyle Center.
