LFS Public Policy Scholarship (LFSPPS)
The La Follette Public Policy Scholarship (LFSPPS) program provides funding to offset tuition for undergraduate students who sign up to take PA 327: Administrative Internship concurrently with a policy-related summer internship (if unsure whether your internship is policy related, please contact the Career Services Director for guidance. The hope is that undergraduate students will pursue opportunities for learning and working in organizations that integrate policy knowledge and theory learned in the classroom with practical application and skills development in a professional setting.
To be eligible, students must:
- Be a full-time undergraduate student, who is currently enrolled in either the La Follette public policy or health policy certificate program.
- Be enrolled in PA 327 – Administrative Internship
- The application period will open in March and the priority deadline for applications is April 26, 2027.
Students will apply using the WiSH portal and provide the following information in their application:
- A brief written statement (no more than one page) that includes: 1) how your anticipated summer experience enhances your studies and relates to your career goal(s), 2) if you have secured an internship for the summer yet? If yes, please include organization name, location, start/end dates, hours per week, rate of pay/stipend, and current status of application, 3) expected graduation date, 4) GPA, and 5) Certificate in Public Policy/Health Policy Standing
- Current resume
No later than May 8th, students will receive a notification in WiSH detailing necessary steps to accepting funding and other post award application processes. Please note international student awards will be processed through payroll (not WiSH) and are subject to tax. Final awards will be made before summer tuition is due
You do not need to have a confirmed internship at the time you apply for the scholarship; however, students should not accept internships with the expectation of receiving a scholarship.
The availability of, and demand for, funds vary each year; thus, the number of awards may also vary. If funding remains available after the April deadline, the Career Services Director may extend the application period, but students should not expect this to occur
