Norbert L. Kielpinski

Norbert L. Kielpinski spent his early life on the family dairy farm. He attended a one-room school, and was one of the first Future Farmers of America (FFA) presidents at Little Wolf High School in Manawa. It was the Great Depression and while many people went to work after high school, Norbert’s parents encouraged him to continue his education. He enrolled in the Farm and Industry Short Course at UW-Madison and graduated in 1935. A purchasing agent, Norbert was a partner at JAK Industrial Supplies in North Chicago, Ill. After a career in business, he returned to a Wisconsin farm where he became an active member of the Kenosha County Dairy Promotion Committee. He enjoyed traveling and was active helping on the family dairy farm. Norbert died in 2005, just one month shy of 90, and to honor his memory and support his educational values, his daughter Susan Crane established the Norbert L. Kielpinski Short Course Scholarship. She remains active in the promotion of agriculture and the dairy industry, serving on various boards to include the Wisconsin State Fair Park Board and the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences Board of Visitors at UW-Madison.
