Dorothy H. Strong

Dorothy Strong was a faculty member in the departments of Home Economics and Food & Nutrition from 1930 until her retirement in 1970. Her area of focus was food-borne illnesses. She served in several roles during her tenure at UW-Madison, including department chair from 1951-68. Dr. Strong served on a task force that resulted in the creation of the Department of Nutritional Sciences within the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences in 1968. Her dedicated outreach to teaching, administration, and research was recognized in 1970 by her receiving the Bordon Research Award. This fund was established in June 1995 with a gift from the estate of Dr. Strong, and is to be used to support women students at UW-Madison in the various fields of biological and physical science.
