Ann and Alphonsus Murphy

Ann Flaherty Murphy graduated from the School of Education in 1960 with a degree in Elementary Education, and then went on to receive a master’s in Education from the George Washington University in 1996. Prior to attending UW-Madison, Ann grew up in Brown County and attended Green Bay West High School. She had a lifelong interest in education as an elementary school teacher, parent, grandparent and community volunteer. After her death, her husband A.C. Murphy (J.D. 1961) created this scholarship in her memory. He wants scholarship recipients to enjoy every moment on campus, and know that they are going into a field that is incredibly important and meaningful.
